A little about us… I started Insulwise in 2008. The reason for creating the business was to give homeowners in the Pittsburgh area a modern, building-science based option for addressing their home’s insulation and duct sealing needs. Although there were other insulation companies out there when I got started, most were (and in many cases still are) using practices that were badly outdated (not air sealing attics or dense packing walls) and were in my opinion selling homeowners a dubious service. As a business grad from Penn State (Pitt fans don’t hate!), I knew that if I could offer homeowners a superior value for their money, that the business was likely to succeed. Having insulated over 2,000 homes in the area since starting, I can happily report to you that this philosophy has indeed worked. We don’t hire subcontractors to perform the insulation work that we do. I hire and train everyone in house so that all of Insulwise’s employees understand when, where, and how to apply the industry-best solutions that we use in the homes we work in. Insulwise also takes it’s place in the community seriously. We are strong supporters of the Urban Impact Foundation which helps disadvantaged children in the North Side and the Allegheny Land Trust which sets aside and preserves tracts of green space in Allegheny County. Lastly, as possibly the only owner of an insulation company in Pittsburgh that has been certified as a residential energy auditor through the Building Performance Institute (BPI), you may notice our approach in your home to be different from other companies. Our goal is simply to reveal and illustrate the causes of your high bills and comfort issues, and then to explain in simple terms how AND why our solutions will fix them.
